Stone County Health Department - Cases of RSV and Flu Have Surged and Continue to Rise

Cases of RSV and Flu have surged and continue to rise. While most people do recover from the Flu and RSV, infants and older people can become very ill and require hospitalization. Flu and RSV and have similar symptoms including: fever, cough, congestions, runny nose, sneezing and in infants, fussiness and poor feeding. It can progress to more symptoms such as shortness of breath, wheezing and in infants and young children, grunting noises when breathing or chest caving. If any of these more severe symptoms present it is important to call your medical provider.  It is also important to remember to stay home when you are sick and wash your hands often especially before holding infants.
