The City of Branson announced on May 1 that its police department has been awarded the Missouri Blue Shield Designation by the State of Missouri for a second consecutive year.
The recognition highlights Branson’s ongoing commitment to public safety and effective partnerships between law enforcement and the community. The Missouri Blue Shield Program, established by an executive order from Governor Mike Kehoe, honors communities that show strong leadership in public safety, proactive crime reduction, and collaboration with residents.
Branson Police Chief Eric Schmitt said, “This recognition speaks to the consistency of our efforts. Public safety is not a one-time achievement. It requires ongoing dedication, strong partnerships, and a shared commitment between our officers and the community we serve. I’m incredibly proud of our team and the trust we continue to build.”
The award is reviewed annually and requires cities to show continued progress in meeting public safety standards set by the program. Branson’s approach includes community policing strategies, investments in officer training and resources, as well as close cooperation with local partners. One notable development during this period was the completion of a new police headquarters aimed at strengthening operations.
Mayor Larry Milton said, “Receiving this designation again reinforces what we know to be true. Branson is a community that prioritizes safety and supports those who serve. This recognition reflects the dedication of our police department and the partnership we have with our community.”
City officials say they plan to keep building on these efforts as Branson grows.
