The Branson Police Department has opened applications for its 2025 Citizens Police Academy, a program intended to give local residents a closer look at police work and department operations.

The academy will run for 12 weeks, starting on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Sessions are scheduled every Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., ending on November 6. Participants will be introduced to various aspects of law enforcement, such as patrol procedures, criminal and narcotics investigations, traffic and DWI enforcement, crime scene processing, SWAT operations, and K-9 unit demonstrations.

In addition to classroom instruction, the program includes a guided tour of the police department and a ride-along with an officer. This is designed to provide participants with direct experience of daily law enforcement activities in Branson.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have no felony convictions. The program gives priority to those who live or work in Branson. Class size is limited to 30 people.

Applications must be submitted by July 31, 2025. Additional information and online applications can be found at bransonmo.gov/police under the Special Programs section. Questions about the academy can be directed to Officer Donathan at ddonathan@bransonmo.gov or by calling 417-334-3300.

“This is your opportunity to learn more about the work behind public safety and strengthen the connection between officers and the community they serve,” according to the Branson Police Department.
