The City of Branson announced on May 11 that residential sewer customers may be eligible for a sewer bill adjustment when filling their swimming pools.
This announcement is relevant as the summer season begins and many residents start to fill their pools. The city highlights that this adjustment is intended to account for water used in pool filling, which typically does not enter the sewer system.
According to Sec. 90-30(h) of the City ordinance, customers can request a sewer account adjustment once per year by completing a Sewer Service Exemption for Swimming Pools form. The city said, “Because pool water typically does not enter the sewer system, qualifying customers may receive an adjustment equal to the volume of water used to fill their pool.” To qualify, the swimming pool must drain to the ground, cannot be connected to the City sewer system, and must have been filled during the same year that the adjustment is requested.
The city clarified that this program is generally available only to residential pool owners. Commercial pools are usually not eligible because they are required to discharge water into the public sewer system for treatment.
Residents interested in applying can complete a Sewer Service Exemption for Swimming Pools form. For more information or assistance with the process, customers can contact Branson’s Utilities Department at 417-337-8529 during regular business hours.
